Lake observations: The air and the water have warmed up nicely. The samples were taken under clear skies on a windy day. The winds were out of the south at 14 mph. Ducks, turtles and small fish were swimming in the sample area.
Algae continues to grow fairly quickly. Most of the algae continues to be under the surface of the water. Aquatic vegetation is growing quickly and looks healthy. Nitrites (NO2-N) are less than .15 ppm. Total nitrate (NO3-N) is less than .05 ppm. Phosphate (PO4) is less than 5 ppm. All are at low levels and indicates there isn’t a lot of fertilizer being washed into the lake.
The lake level is normal. We are considered (western Dallas County) to be in a moderate drought. Although the 2.39 inches of rain last Tuesday and Wednesday was good. However, the rain occurred after the last Texas Drought Monitor results were posted and would not be reflected in the data.
