Lake observations: The water is cooling off but remains warm. The samples were taken under clear skies. The winds were out of the north at 5 mph. Algae is rare (< 25%). Aquatic vegetation looks healthy. Nitrites (NO2-N) are .3 ppm. Total nitrate (NO3-N) is .5 ppm. Phosphate (PO4-) is 5 ppm. All are at low levels and indicates there isn’t a much fertilizer or other agricultural chemicals being washed into the lake. The lake level is slightly lower than normal. We are considered (western Dallas County) to be abnormally dry. This is a big improvement from the previous month. It has been 22 days since it rained.
